Agent management

Open a server's details, then click Server settings. Agent updates shows the current version and latest available version. The Update agent button appears when a newer release is available.

Update from the server

Run the installed helper on the monitored VPS:

sudo /opt/vpsagent/update.sh

The helper downloads the latest release, checks its checksum, replaces the binary, and restarts the service. If the new service fails to start, it restores the previous binary. Your Cloud pairing remains in place. Sudo may ask for your server password.

Enable updates from Cloud

Remote updates are off by default. Run this once on the monitored server:

sudo /opt/vpsagent/vpsagent enable-remote-updates

If that command is unavailable, run the manual update helper first. Wait for the agent to report its version and opt-in state, then open Server settings in Cloud and click Update agent when a newer version is available.

Cloud sends a release update request through the agent's outbound control connection. It does not log in through SSH or ask for your sudo password. The installed updater verifies the signed release and checksum before replacing the binary. Failed startup restores the previous binary. A restart briefly interrupts samples.

Updates run only when requested; opting in does not turn on automatic upgrades. Control checks continue even if billing pauses metric uploads. To disable future update requests locally:

sudo /opt/vpsagent/vpsagent disable-remote-updates

An update already in progress may finish after you disable new requests.

Rename or remove a server

Renaming changes the server's display name in Cloud.

Removing a server in Server settings deletes its Cloud metrics and incidents and revokes its Cloud credential. It does not uninstall the agent on that server. To remove the installed agent as well, run:

sudo /opt/vpsagent/remove.sh

The removal helper asks for confirmation. Running it alone stops the local service and removes its credential, but leaves the server entry and history in Cloud until you remove them there.

For update diagnostics, check:

sudo systemctl status vpsagent-update.path --no-pager
sudo journalctl -u vpsagent-update.service -n 50 --no-pager

API clients

The complete Cloud OpenAPI contract describes listing servers, renaming or removing a server, and reading history. Renames use PATCH /v1/servers/{id}; existing PUT clients remain supported. API errors include a stable code alongside the human-readable error message.
